As a queer couple, we feel very lucky that we are able to get married; we want to support our fellow queers whose rights are lagging behind ours in the UK.
In this spirit, here are two facts relating to marriage:
Trans people are unable to get married as their correct gender without first obtaining a Gender Recognition Certificate, which can be very difficult (and invasive) to acquire.
The UK allows spouses a veto in applications to obtain a Gender Recognition Certificate, and thus to access many legal rights.
