In September, I will be running on behalf of Music Therapy Bedfordshire and Embrace for Star Group, a specialist weekly therapeutic group for infants with complex needs and their carers. The group combines physiotherapy support with music therapy and for 6 years, Embrace, an incredible local charity who support families with children and young people with additional needs and complex disabilities have funded the group's music therapist. Sadly, due to the significant cuts charities have recently experienced, Embrace now need your donations so we can continue to provide music therapy to support these incredible children and their families.
Incorporating Music Therapy into an early intervention physiotherapy group means we can use music, sound and instruments to help them engage in physiotherapy activities in an enjoyable and meaningful way. As the music therapist, I help children discover new ways to express themselves with their parents and friends and as a group we notice and celebrate every tiny progress and personality trait!
It is a low pressure, fun and safe environment where carers know they will be listened to and supported whilst they adjust to their child's complex medical conditions and physical disabilities.
