My name is Joe and I'm attempting to raise funds for a trek challenge I'm undertaking in February 2026.

I will be trekking across the Sahara Desert in an attempt to raise funds and awareness for men's mental health and Men's Minds Matter Suicide Prevention.

As a young man (I'm 20 so not so young anymore!) I've experienced what it's like to feel lost and like suicide may be an option, but I'm here now to prevent any other man from experiencing the same. I want to help break the stigma concerning men's mental health and bring awareness to Men's Minds Matter as by doing things like this we can save Men, young and old, from suicide.

Some eye-opening stats for you:

Three quarters of all completed UK suicides are by men.

Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50

A man dies by suicide every 2 hours

85% of rough sleepers are men

Men are less likely to access psychological help with only 36% of referrals to NHS Talking Therapies being men.
