Hi, I’m Graham Carney, proud patron of The Principle Trust Children’s Charity.
I had originally planned to take on the Leeds Marathon on 10th May 2026 to raise funds for a cause that means a great deal to me and my family.
Unfortunately, due to a hip injury, I’ve had to make the difficult decision to withdraw from the race. While I’m incredibly disappointed not to be taking part, I felt it was important to be open and keep everyone updated.
That said, my commitment to supporting The Principle Trust remains as strong as ever.
The charity helps to change lives by providing free respite holidays for children across Yorkshire who are facing adverse childhood experiences, including mental health challenges, poverty, trauma, abuse, serious illness, or disabilities. For many of these families, a break away together is simply not possible, yet it can make a world of difference. The Trust’s holiday homes in Blackpool, Filey, and the Lake District offer families the chance to rest, reconnect, and create lasting memories.
As a father, I know just how important those moments are, time to be together, away from the pressures of everyday life. That’s why I remain fully committed to raising funds for this incredible cause. I’m already exploring alternative challenges later this year once I’ve recovered, and I’ll be back with a new goal soon.
Thanks to the Trust’s 100% donations policy, every penny raised goes directly towards funding these much-needed breaks.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support, it truly means a great deal.
