At Blue Horizons, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the freedom, wellbeing and joy of the ocean.

Over the last few years we have invested in adaptive surfboards, beach wheelchairs, specialist wetsuits and accessible equipment so that people with disabilities and additional needs can take part in surfing and coastal activities.

However, there is still another barrier preventing some people from joining us.

For individuals with more complex physical disabilities, getting changed safely and comfortably into a wetsuit can be extremely difficult without specialist equipment. This means that despite having access to the beach and adaptive surfing equipment, some people are still unable to participate.

We are raising £1,200 to purchase a specialist electric changing table, costing £924, along with delivery and associated equipment.

We are particularly keen to secure this equipment as quickly as possible as our Brainwaves project begins next week. One participant who wishes to attend is currently facing this exact barrier, and we want to do everything we can to ensure they can take part with dignity, comfort and independence.

This changing table will not only support one individual, but will help many future participants access surfing, wellbeing activities and the coastline for years to come.
