This page is dedicated to the memory of my lovely sister Trish Wadsworth who passed away on August 10th 2026, she was 66 years old. In 2021 I became worried about Trish, her behaviour became strange and she was struggling to be organised, most unusual for Trish who did her Christmas shopping in October, never forgot a birthday or appointments, her eyes seemed fixed and she couldn’t hold a conversation.
Her GP couldn’t find anything specifically wrong but referred her to a neurologist, Trish was initially diagnosed with Parkinson’s but in October 2022 it was changed to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) we had never heard of it, we had a lot to learn. It’s a rare neurological disease for which there is no treatment or cure, Trish has been so brave throughout it all, she lost her independence, her mobility, her speech and finally her life.
We were welcomed by the Parkinson’s community and found the SHARED HARMONIES - Singing for Parkinson’s Group, words cannot describe the great joy this brought into our lives and every Monday morning we looked forward to going singing, even though Trish struggled to speak, she often managed to sing along. Peter, Tricia’s husband became her carer, supported by myself and every morning they sang along together to two of her favourite songs - Walking Meditation and I am the Song.
Shared Harmonies helps boost your health, wellbeing and confidence in a safe singing space, they believe that everyone can sing - despite what they may have been led to believe.
