Hi, I’m Barry, 53 years old, and I was lucky enough to get a place in this year’s London Marathon ballot.
-
I’ll be honest—I hadn’t originally planned to run for a charity. It was my wife who suggested it, and once she did, the question quickly became: who for?
-
That didn’t take long to answer.
-
Two years ago, my brother-in-law lost his battle with depression to suicide. It’s something that’s still incredibly hard to come to terms with, and like many families affected by this, we’re left with sadness, questions, and a feeling that more could be done to help others before they reach that point.
-
That’s why I’ve chosen to support Men's Minds Matter, a charity dedicated to preventing suicide in men by developing life-saving psychological interventions, providing training for professionals and communities, and raising awareness around men’s mental health.
-
Too many men still struggle in silence.
-
So here I am—stepping well outside my comfort zone to take on 26.2 miles—and asking for your support.
-
If you can donate, no matter how small, it would mean a great deal and help fund work that can genuinely save lives. And if donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would be hugely appreciated.
-
If this helps even one person reach out, it’s worth every step.
-
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
