In early May, Chris & I will Walk a Marathon from Wokingham along the Thames Path to Lower Shiplake and back, to raise money for The Link Visiting Scheme in Wokingham.
The Link is an award-winning charity designed to bring connection and community to older people and volunteers in the Wokingham area. Offering a mix of weekly and monthly activities to suit all tastes - community lunches, quizzes, nature walks, crafts, fitness classes and so much more.
Chris & I have been volunteers with The Link since early 2020, visiting people in their homes, chauffeuring them to events, delivering jigsaws and getting involved with other community events. This was when I met my first Link Friend, Michael, who used to play in a band and had some very interesting stories to tell of his younger life. Michael loved playing music when I visited and, with perfect pitch, was quickly able to pick up 'new' songs to play and sing along to - including Coldplay and some of my favourite Simon and Garfunkel songs.
Your donation, however small, will go a long way to keep all these activities going and also help keep myself and Chris motivated to keep putting one foot in front of the other along our 26.2 mile walk. Thank you!
