In 2018, I lost a friend to suicide. It was a moment that shook me to my core and opened my eyes to a truth many men face in silence: the struggles, pressures, and pain we carry often go unseen and unspoken. Since then, I’ve wanted to do something meaningful — something that not only honors those we’ve lost but also inspires men to speak up, share their stories, and seek support before it’s too late.
Next week, I’ll be climbing some of the most challenging and active volcanoes in Central America: Tajumulco, Santiaguito, and Volcán de Fuego — pushing my body and mind to their limits. These climbs are more than just physical challenges; they’re a metaphor for life’s intense struggles, the unexpected eruptions of crisis, and the perseverance needed to rise above them. Each step I take represents the courage it takes to speak up, follow your dreams, and move forward despite fear, doubt, or pain.
Through this fundraiser, I want to raise awareness for the silent battles men face every day. Men’s Minds Matter, who are supporting this project, dedicate their work to providing training, support, and guidance to men in crisis. Your donations will directly help them reach men who feel alone, giving them someone to talk to, a chance to be heard, and hope for a better tomorrow.
This challenge is my way of taking action — combining adventure with advocacy. I hope it encourages others to step out of their silence, embrace compassion for themselves and others, and pursue life fully, even when it feels impossible. Together, we can help break the silence, support one another, and honor the lives of those we’ve lost by making sure no man has to struggle alone.
