For over two decades, Maa Shanti has provided specialist support to South Asian women experiencing domestic abuse. We are one of the few organisations of our kind – a small, community-rooted charity built by South Asian women, for South Asian women.
We understand the cultural, family and practical barriers that can make it incredibly difficult for women to seek help and leave abusive relationships. Our experienced team provides practical and emotional support to help women navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives, including support with housing, finances, legal issues, safety and rebuilding their confidence and independence.
One woman we supported, Mazeda, came to Maa Shanti in 2023 needing help with custody arrangements, housing and her emotional wellbeing. Two years later, she had moved into a stable home with her children. She told us:
“I will never forget what Maa Shanti has done for me and my children.”
Stories like Mazeda's are why our work matters.
Demand for our services continues to grow, but we are now facing an urgent funding shortfall. We need to raise £20,000 in short-term funding by 31 October 2026 to protect our frontline services and ensure that the women who rely on Maa Shanti continue to have somewhere safe and trusted to turn.
We are asking individuals and organisations to help us protect this lifeline for South Asian women. Every donation, whatever its size, will help us continue providing specialist support when women need it most.
Thank you for supporting Maa Shanti and helping us ensure that women experiencing domestic abuse are not left without the specialist support they need.
