We're taking on a Fire Walk to support unpaid carers across Leeds!
On Thursday 8 October, Sam and I will be walking barefoot across a bed of hot embers (eeek!) as part of Carers Leeds’ 30th anniversary celebrations.
We are taking on this incredible challenge to raise vital funds for unpaid carers across Leeds.
Our family knows all too well how essential the support unpaid carers provide to loved ones is - and how hard it can be.
My mum (Sam's grandma) cared for my dad while he lived with dementia over several years. We have seen first-hand how exhausting and isolating being an unpaid carer can be.
And, whilst being an unpaid carer often comes from a place of deep love, commitment and care - it is hard work and can have a significant impact on a carer's health, wellbeing and finances.
For 30 years, Carers Leeds has supported unpaid carers through its Support Line, one-to-one assistance, groups and services across the city—including support within Leeds hospitals. Its work helps ensure that unpaid carers do not have to face things alone.
Every donation to Carers Leeds makes a difference:
£10 could help a carer take a break and enjoy a cuppa and a chat with a befriender.
£30 could help someone access vital information and advice through the Carers Leeds Support Line.
£50 could support a wellbeing activity, helping carers to rest and recharge.
If you can, please sponsor us and help Carers Leeds continue its vital work. Together, we can help unpaid carers feel valued, supported and heard. Any amount - however small - makes a difference!
Thank you so so much for supporting us!
