Let me start by telling you about a wonderful, sarcastic, and slightly neanderthalic looking chap named Sean Padmore. I first met Sean on one of the first days of high school, we quickly became close friends and within no time at all I saw Sean as my brother. Years of brotherhood, the good and the bad, cemented our bond. Back in November 2024 Sean lost his battle with his mental health and made the extremely difficult decision to end his own life. For some time before this Sean had been talking about how unhappy he was and I, along with other friends, would do all we could to try and lift his mood. The news of Sean's loss crushed me, helping to carry his coffin and speaking at his funeral are some of the hardest things I've done.
After seeing the devastation Sean's loss left with his family and friends I resolved that I wanted to try to help others who find themselves in a similar place to Sean. After a look at men's mental health charities I found Men's Minds Matter and felt it was a charity worthy of Sean's memory.
Sean loved the outdoors and, being half Welsh, one of his favourite places was Mt Snowden. One of my many regrets is not getting to hike it with him, although he definitely would have ribbed me the whole time for how unfit I now am!
My aim is to raise funds for Men's Minds Matter with a hike to the top of Mt Snowden and back down in memory of Sean on 19th August 2026. Your donations will then go to help fund the fantastic work Men's Minds Matter do help save the lives of men and boys every single day.
