I was going to climb the Yorkshire Three Peaks to celebrate my 50th birthday, but have now pivoted to the Felixstowe Triathlon. It's a local event, lighter on my carbon footprint, and I'll save on travel and accommodation costs.
The triathlon I've entered is a super sprint: 300m pool swim, 20k bike followed by a 3k run.
I'm fundraising for Ipswich Housing Action Group as part of the Suffolk Building Society 'Safe Homes for Suffolk' campaign. I know that Ipswich Housing Action Group and their friends at Emmaus Suffolk (where I'm a trustee) will put any funds raised to good use. Homelessness can happen to anyone. Many of us are just a few pay days, a relationship breakdown, or ill health, away from losing a home.
Ipswich Housing Action Group do amazing work - they go out at 6am to check on people sleeping rough, invite them in for a warm breakfast, provide showers, mailbox and laundry facilities and vital support and signposting.
Please wish me luck on Sunday 16 July 2023, and cheer me on if you're near the seafront!

I last competed in a triathlon in 2010...
