On 2nd August our group will be cheering on our fabulous runners as they take on the York 10K. Our group provides support for all those with Down Syndrome, including their families, friends and carers who live in and around York. We also provide resources and support to those in other organisations who support our families. Our activities include new parent support, monthly Saturday drop ins, therapy advice (including speech therapy assessments), a football club, an archaeology club, a club for older teenagers and adults, a sing and sign choir and parent workshops. We support families to get out and do activities that might be ordinarily difficult to access. We share information about opportunities in the local area to families on a daily basis via email and Facebook, and liaise with education, health and other services as much as we can. We seek to avoid replication and aim to complement the services that are available via other support organisations.
