In July of this year, I lost my friend Tony to an illness we rarely talk about, but one that affects so many people, mental health.
Tony loved to run, so I felt it appropriate to raise money for an excellent local mental health charity - Tonic, Music for Mental Health, by running the Great South Run this October.
I'm not even half the runner Tony was. He ran multiple marathons and was previously a member of Ealing Eagles. So tackling the 10 miles along the coast of Portsmouth will be a great challenge.
The Charity
I'm hoping to raise £1000 for Tonic. Tonic raise awareness of mental health issues and provide access to recovery through music and art. Tonic’s most recent campaign is to purchase instruments for all NHS psychiatric hospitals across the UK to help aid individual recovery through music.
Please donate whatever you can spare, even £5 will go a long way to raising money for a very worthwhile cause.
I paid for race entry myself, and Tonic provide no financial assistance to me, so every single penny raised will go directly to the charity.
