My nursing career has been, & remains centred around supporting people affected by stroke in our local community and in West Africa. This was partly inspired by my gorgeous dad having a stroke in his 50’s & my experiences in nursing. Having a stroke changes people’s lives immediately. It can have devastating effects such as, causing disability, communication issues, changes in a person’s identity & personality  can cause isolation & loneliness. Stroke can happen at any age including in childhood.  So, it seems right that as a significant birthday approaches, instead of a gift, a small donation if you wish, to an amazing charity that is close to my heart is appropriate.
