We’re Dex and Tom — a queer couple from Norfolk and Essex, setting out to hike 466km from Nice to Geneva along the GR5 trail. We’re wild camping the entire way, carrying everything on our backs, and documenting the journey online to raise money for The LGBTQ+ Project in Norfolk.
After living in London for the last few years, we wanted to return to our roots and give back to the local queer community. We know how isolating it can be to grow up LGBTQ+ in rural areas — and how vital it is to feel seen, heard, and supported.
The LGBTQ+ Project is the only dedicated wellbeing service for LGBTQ+ individuals in Norfolk and Waveney. They provide life-changing mental health support, education, and early intervention across all age groups — delivered by people with real lived experience. Their mission is simple but powerful: reduce isolation and inspire positive change.
We chose this charity because their values — individuality, compassion, choice, and safety — speak directly to what we believe in. We want every queer person in our region to have access to the care they need.
Our hike is a personal challenge, but also a message of visibility, pride, and resilience. We hope to raise funds and awareness for this incredible organisation, and would love your support.
