E3 learners get 4 free English lessons focusing on their practical needs: speaking to their doctor, child's teacher or landlord and navigating public transport. They are given free registration with e-learning material that they can access anywhere, anytime. Finally, they have the chance to try out their English skills in a real life The £500,000 project is one of only five across the UK that have been funded by the Department of Communities and Local Government's English Language Competition.
Why they need our serviceWithout basic English skills or knowledge about navigating London, it can be difficult for refugee and migrant individuals to find a job or feel welcome in the U.K. The EOU offers free functional English classes for new adult learners - we call it our e3 Project.
Plan and expected resultsE3 learners improve their confidence and are inspired to get out and use their English in their community. The ultimate aim is that learners feel confident enough to start gaining skills that will allow them to enter the workforce.
