Dear All,
I am going to FIREWALK to fundraise for this Families United Network (FUN for short) on the 20th November 2013. Firewalking refers to the activity of walking on hot embers without burning the bare soles of one’s feet. It is real fire I hear you ask? Yes, burning at a mean temperature of 1236 degrees Fahrenheit! To put it into perspective: paper combusts at 451 degrees, aluminium melts at 1100 degrees! And now you’re probably thinking why should I do this? Well, we all have to face things we are uncertain about. I will use this event to set up resources that will always be available for me. If I can conquer fear in the very real form of walking across hot embers then I can use this experience as a benchmark for any other situations in the future.
FUN is passionate about supporting families living with disabilities. They provide Holiday Clubs, Activities and Trips and Community outreach projects for children and young people. They provide information and practical and emotional support for families and carers. They work hard to do as much as they can for the funding that they receive and I have had the pleaseure of working for them over the past 8 years and still access their services when caring for children as part of my respite work.
This will take place on 20th November at the Red House Pub, 1 Wolverton Road, Newport Pagnell, MK16 8BG.Spectators can arrive from 7:30pm, the fires will be lit at 8:30pm and the fire-walk will take place at 9pm.
Any donations and support (by coming along) would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart,
Jenny
