Our amazing team of supporters are tackling the Kiltwalk to support young people and dogs in need in Scotland. Every step will help a dog and a young person change each other's lives
💙
Paws for Progress runs the UK's first prison-based rescue dog training programme at HMP & YOI Polmont, helping rescue dogs from Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home develop essential skills and resilience to help them be successfully rehomed. We also provide dog-assisted activities in schools and secure units across Scotland with our team of friendly "Ambassadogs".
💙
Young people build friendships and learn to care for dogs, building confidence, empathy, patience, and trust. For many, this is the highlight of their week:
"Paws and the dogs really has improved my confidence and really helped with my anxiety. The dogs really do put a smile on my face and it is the only thing I look forward to. Paws really has made a difference to my life."
💙
The impact goes both ways. Many of our learners are neurodivergent or have experienced trauma, and often face significant barriers to engaging with traditional support. Taking part boosts their wellbeing in ways that other approaches cannot. They gain real skills, improved mental health, and stronger community ties, helping them reintegrate successfully after difficult periods in their lives. The ripple effect goes further still, as the responsible dog ownership skills they gain create lasting benefits long after the programme ends.
💙
As a small organisation, we rely on the support of people like you. Help us make a change. Whether it's £5 or £50, 100% of your donation will go directly towards funding this life-changing work, building brighter futures for people and dogs.
💙
Thank you for believing, like we do, that everyone deserves a second chance. 🐾 💙
