About

The Big Blurtathon’s theme is: ‘We All Have A Story’. There’s a number of you who already know my story, or even just know parts of it’s, so I promise you I won’t go on to much. I’m one of the figures you read about when you see anything about mental health, as I have anxiety & depression. Officially this has been part of my life for just over 2years, unofficially I’m pretty confident I’ve been in the bracket for much longer. Over the years I’ve dealt with: loses, a medical condition, bullying of various forms, emotional abuse, harassment & stalking, to name a few; on top of my mental health. To raise funds for Blurt Foundation & everything they do to support the mental health of the public I will be aiming to cycle (in the gym) my very own Isle Of Man Senior TT Race. That’s 37.73 Miles a lap, six times, giving a total of 226.38 Miles. Mental health & sport has long been an issue that hasn’t had the support it deserves. All to often there are stories of retired sports men & women ending their lives due to mental health which had been allowed to grow since they stopped doing their passion. Access to mental health support in sport, as well as in all aspects of life, should be more readily available. That’s where folks like Blurt Foundation come in. That’s where story & my challenge for The Big Blurtathon come in. So, now you’ve heard a little of my story, a little bit about my thoughts on mental health and my challenge, it’s time for you start yours. Now I’m not telling you you need to go out & cycle your own race, what I am telling you, is that it’s ok if you feel rubbish, if you have mental health issues, an invisible illness etc & it’s certainly more then ok for you to speak about it. For those who might fancy giving my TT challenge a go then here’s an idea: TT Zero Race: 37.73 Miles (1 lap) Sidecar Race: 113.19 Miles (3 laps) Superstock Race: 150.92 Miles (4 laps) Senior Race: 226.38 Miles (6 laps)
