Over few years I have committed towards the humanitarian assistance and policy activism for the rights of refugees. Since witnessing the plight of the refugee crisis with my own eyes, I have decided to fundraise as a candidate for the Local Hero 2018 campaign. During this campaign I am raising money to support Syrian refugee families who have resettled in London after fleeing their homes in Syria. The challenge is to gain as many unique donors as possible towards this cause. The top fundraiser with the most number of donors by midnight 30th April will receive a match fund of £1000. Sufra NW London is a local Food Bank and Community Hub which has helped over 30 Syrian refugee families in the London Borough of Brent with emergency food aid, welfare support, and other key services. By donating to this cause YOU can help build a better life for these refugee families and help Sufra continue its services including: - A Welcome Service for newly arrived families that includes providing vital household essentials. - Weekly food parcels - Cash grants to families - In-kind grants to families for specific needs such as school uniforms, maternity packs, and white goods. - ESOL English classes to refugee adults. - Advice and support on how to access key benefits and services in the UK.
