Robin Hood MarathonA fundraising project by Lily Brown
I have been running here and there, in and out for my whole life and have finally decided to train and participate in this lengthy affair in September 2018. This will be my first half marathon and way beyond any distance I have ever achieved!
My chosen charity for fundraising is the Nottingham Women's Centre. This a unique, local and independent charity in Nottingham who do outstanding work for women who may have suffered severe trauma/abuse, poverty, mental health issues additionally to aid in training/skills for future employment. Being a smaller charity, it is often overlooked yet it is vital to fund the amazing work they do day in day out to really improve lives of vulnerable women, and guiding them to independence.
Around 12,000 women enter the centre each year, and any money fundraised goes towards hot meals/comfort, health therapy, and counselling for mental health issues, abuse, trauma or sex trafficking.
This is a very important charity to me and I have seen the brilliant and amazing work the volunteers do here.
Even the smallest of donations will help!
This is a big challenge for me and I would really appreciate any support!
