The charity trains home visiting volunteers to support families with children under 5 years old who struggle to cope with the pressures of parenthood. Often, these families are also coping with disabilities, food poverty, isolation, alcohol and substance abuse and mental health issues amongst other problems. Our volunteers give non judgemental advice and support providing parents with skills and experience to cope and helping them to manage their individual challenges. By visiting families in their own homes, our Home Start volunteer support is welcomed by parents who might not have the confidence otherwise to go out to seek help.
