2020/21, a very challenging time. With events cancelled and many charity shops closed, with council support for essential social services running on low, with gaping holes in safety nets and the mushrooming of volunteer food-banks, organisations like St Petrocs are beacons of hope. For the past seven years we've walked a camino, but 2021 is totally different. It has however offered us the perfect opportunity to raise money and awareness of UK homelessness.
update: COVID is closing in. Over the past few days we’ve heard worrying news of friends, and friends of friends, who are now in isolation. As close as Tywardreath and Lostwithiel and Fowey. All things considered, and seeing the number of people walking around local tourist spots and the popularity of the coast path, it’s time to limit our loops to a dog walk in the woods and around the farm .. specifically, no more dipping into shops for pasties or takeaway hot chocolates.
We’re still committed to camping out in our vegetable plot until the end of January, raising awareness of homelessness. We’ll continue to walk the dogs a shorter loop each day and upload our miles on the virtual LEJOG path as before.
Most importantly, it’s still frozen out there. It’s still hard to survive sleeping rough. We’re still raising money for St Petrocs Winter Appeal. Please, please help us reach our target. Stay safe.
Good luck guys yous are doing amazing 🤩 x
