I am 16 years old and came to the UK from Ukraine as a refugee two years ago, with my family and little else. We found safety and compassion in Reigate, and feel lucky to have been supported by the amazing local charity Stripey Stork. They provided us with clothing, toiletries and bedding to help us settle in during those first, uncertain weeks. I have never forgotten this kindness and the way it made us feel welcome and safe.

Now it’s my turn to give back. This September, I’ll be running the 5K at Run Reigate to raise funds for Stripey Stork - the first step in my goal to take on longer running events over the next year, all while raising money for this incredible charity.

This is my way of saying thank you and ensuring other families like mine can receive the same vital support.
