Learn with Grandma is about making the most of time spent with grandchildren. This includes helping to break down digital divides, encouraging people to share skills across the generations and have fun together. We.share good news and ideas of how to use the internet to help close the digital age gap. We seek to reunite the generations so that we can all work together to improve our communities; our World!
Why the community needs us
In the UK over 60% of grandparents care for their grandchildren on a regular basis. Most of the youngsters use IT and most of the elders don't - but they do have other skills and knowledge to share. We encourage the generations to work together, sharing skills and fun. We aim to reunite the generations; increase respect; and encourage events or activities that can improve lives and communities.
Our impact on the community
LwG encourages many projects in many countries. We wanted to find a project that could be done in any country. It had to be achievable; sustainable - not cost much; use IT; and need doing. We decided to create e-books of the local legends that could be lost as printing costs rise & books go out of print. Electronic educational books (e-books) cost less to produce and send. They can include art; drama; music; teaching; history; culture; languages; and can never go out of print!
