Today, 6th August, is a proud day for Localgiving, as it’s the 10th anniversary of us as a Living Wage Employer. Since August 2015, we’ve ensured that all our directly employed and regular third-party staff have received at least a real Living Wage. The real Living Wage is currently £12.60 in the UK or £13.85 in London. Both rates are significantly higher than the government minimum for over 21s, which currently stands at £12.21 per hour.
The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011, the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 200,000 people and put over £1 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.

Andrei Yusfin, CEO, Localgiving stated: “We are proud today to celebrate our 10-year commitment to the Living Wage. As an organisation that supports groups that do great work in their community, we believe it’s essential that we support our own community - our team! We look forward to continuing this commitment and would encourage all organisations to speak to the Living Wage Foundation about becoming involved with this fantastic cause.”
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation added: “We’re delighted that Localgiving has recently celebrated 10 years of being an accredited Living Wage Employer. They are a longstanding member of the movement of over 16,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to going further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on. They stand alongside thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as IKEA, Heathrow Airport, Barclays, Chelsea and Everton Football Clubs and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Localgiving, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay."
