Bath Area Play Project provide a wide range of services for families and children across B&NES including family play support, holiday playschemes and Saturday Clubs for disabled children, providing respite for parents and free to access play sessions at different times of the year.
Our Summer Play Days are a valuable resource for many families who live in Bath and surrounding areas. Our team of friendly Playworkers bring resources and fun play opportunities to parks and open spaces across Bath, encouraging families to get involved and have fun outdoors! We are the only organisation in the Bath area providing these play opportunities and families would like them to continue.
All services require funding to buy resources including everything from food to materials and equipment. Sports and other equipment gets lost, things get broken and others get used up like paint.
How the funding will be spent
The money raised will be spent on play resources for our activities which have included woodwork, wheelie fun days, treasure hunt, outdoor cooking, spin painting bike, slacklining, den building, waterslide, bouncy castle and slide, arts and crafts, loose parts, bubbles, face painting and sports. The money also pays for additional staff hours to facilitate play opportunities for all. The resources we use are sometimes removed from the sessions or get broken and so we need to replace for our work to continue. Please help if you can.
How this will benefit the community
Our play sessions provide stimulating and fun outdoor play experiences that families can enjoy together. Since Covid, children's well-being has been affected and outdoor free play supports children in processing anxieties. Children and parents have opportunities to meet and make friendships, which often continue beyond the playday, helping to create a cohesive, stronger, more supportive local community. Children experience the benefits of healthy, creative outdoor activity which encourages them to a more active lifestyle reducing social isolation and building resilience.
