High Peak Foodbank is part of The Zink Project. The foodbank provides emergency food parcels to families referred to us by Citizens Advice, GPs, support workers, schools, Jobcentres etc. We help foodbank users resolve issues through Zink Advice so they don't need to rely on emergency food parcels AND we support people into jobs through Zink Employability so they don't fall into the poverty trap again.
Why the community needs usAs well as addressing the immediate need of hunger amongst some of our neighbours, we also benefit the community by supporting some foodbank users into work. This is better for them because they no longer need foodbank help but also better for everyone because working communities tend to be healthier and more prosperous all round.
Our impact on the communityIn 2019 we provided 32,000 meals for over 1400 children and adults. We provided additional support to more than half our clients; helping them to resolve benefit, housing or finance issues through Zink Advice or into work, training or education through Zink Employability. Over 600 people have been supported by Zink Advice and over 300 have been helped into work through Zink Employability so far. We have also welcomed over 1000 people to Buxton Community Café.
