Newcastle Upon Tyne | Community Support & Development
Scotswood Garden is an award winning, environmental and community organisation based in the heart of our local neighbourhood. Our mission is to inspire and promote learning about nature, the environment and sustainable living whilst having a positive impact on people's health and wellbeing. The garden is about our community, whether in Scotswood and Benwell or the wider area, and we welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in our work.
Why the community needs us
The Garden is beautiful and boasts a woodland, meadows, ponds, heritage orchards and one of the oldest Forest Gardens in the country. We work with over 4000 people a year including: children who take part in forest schools and environmental education workshops with their schools; local young people who come to our 5 weekly play & youth groups; older people including people living with dementia. The Garden is maintained by a team of local volunteers.
