Square Food Foundation teaches people of all ages, abilities and from all walks of life to cook good food from scratch. We use the social and therapeutic role of food as a way to reduce social isolation, enhance community cohesion and create a pathway to better opportunities.

Why the community needs us

SFF aims to provide its students with the life-skills and confidence to make good choices for their own and their families' health and wellbeing. We use cooking to encourage social engagement and inclusion in food culture and conversations as well as an opportunity to enjoy the pleasure of good food!

Our impact on the community

This year, SFF worked with 90 children from 3 local schools, 40 adults from 4 hostels, 18 families from one school, 24 children with Downs Syndrome, 12 adults aged over 60, 6 young people NEET, 12 children with autism, 27 women trapped in sex work, 24 adults with few/no qualifications. The aim for each group remains the same - to empower all students to make positive change in their lives by teaching them skills, increasing their confidence, improving their wellbeing and giving them choices.
