At BYHP Banbury, we are incredibly grateful to be supported by Sarah through her beautiful and meaningful garden at BBC Gardeners’ World.

Inspired by her teenage daughter’s journey during a difficult time, the garden reflects an experience that many of the young people we support can relate to. It has been thoughtfully designed to uplift and comfort, using floriography, the Victorian language of flowers, to convey powerful messages of love, healing, courage and strength.

A winding thyme path symbolises a journey of resilience, leading to a peaceful seating area that represents safety, protection and belonging. Swallow sculptures throughout the garden reflect hope, renewal, freedom and protection, values that are at the heart of the work we do every day.

Following the show, we are honoured that the garden will be rehomed within our community space, where it will continue to have a lasting impact.

The garden will be cared for by Harvest at Home, creating a calm and restorative environment for the young people we support.

This garden will become more than just a space. It will be a place for reflection, healing and growth, and a lasting reminder to our young people that they are not alone.

We are so thankful to Sarah Elsley for choosing to support BYHP in such a meaningful and lasting way.
