As schools prepare to close their doors in July, thousands of children across Milton Keynes are counting down the days until the summer holidays begin.
For many children, summer means freedom, adventure, laughter, and making memories with friends. But for some families, the arrival of July brings anxiety rather than excitement.
Many parents are already working two or three jobs just to keep food on the table and a roof over their children’s heads. Others are facing financial pressures, social isolation, and increasing challenges as the cost of living continues to rise.
When schools close, much more than education stops. For many children, school provides routine, friendship, encouragement, safety, and access to nutritious meals. When those doors close for six weeks, many families lose a vital source of support.
At MK Melting Pot, we believe no child should face a summer of loneliness, hunger, or exclusion. Through our Summer Club and Summer Food Package Programme, we create safe spaces where children can learn, play, grow, build confidence, and make lasting memories.
We provide food support, activities, mentoring, friendship, and opportunities that help children thrive throughout the summer holidays.
A donation of £25 can help provide food support for a child.
A donation of £100 can help support a family during the summer holidays.
Together, we can ensure that when schools close in July, opportunity does not close with them.
Donate today, and help us create a summer filled with hope, belonging, friendship, and possibility.
Every child matters. Every family matters. Every act of kindness matters.
