My colleague, drinking buddy and running comrade Tony* - aka Big Tone - passed away in July last year after losing a long battle with his daemons. Last November, a bunch of Tony's workmates from our old firm Fifteen ran a 10k charity challenge round Wollaton Park in his memory.
This September I'll be going twice that far as I take part in the 2018 Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham! This course will be particularly poignant as it will include some of the roads Tony himself used to train on while he lived in Nottingham (though I can only dream of matching any of his times!).
I'm raising money for a local charity called Harmless who offer self-harm and suicide prevention services in the city. Organisations like this do incredible work and I'm proud to support them, just as I'm proud to be running in memory of my mate Tony.
