The Big Bike Ride

Phil (my husband) and I have done many miles on our trusted bikes over the past 5 years and this trip will just about top them all. We have done The Coast to Coast twice, the Great Glen Way in Scotland, the Ho Che Minh Trail between Vietnam and Cambodia and the Tarker Trail in Devon to name but a few rides. Lands End to John O'groats which is approx. 875 miles will be our longest and hardest challenge of all. I or we have chosen to support Northamptonshire Carers by having this as a sponsored bike for their 'Capital Appeal' they need to raise £5000K to extend their Respite Provision for Carers. Northamptonshire has approx. 70,000 Adult Carers, 7000 Young Carers between the ages of 5 and 18, 23% of Carers have to give up paid employment to look after a loved one and 1 in 8 of us will be Carers in our lifetime. Carers can face anxiety and stress on a daily basis in their caring role and time away can give them a much needed and appreciated break from the daily rouge.tine. Please find just a few pounds to sponsor us if you can - we will post photos of our daily travels on the Northamptonshire Carers Facebook page. We will be starting our journey on the 28th April and cheating just a bit, we will cycle for 10 days and get approx. half way - In Sept we will be completing our ride.
