Bola Yane translates as 'My Ball' . We are supporting this project in the Chitipa District in rural northern Malawi. We send preloved sports kit and balls and these are shared between children in primary schools who do not have any sports kit. We also support the costs of having a professional come to coach the children and their teachers. We will not facilitate a whole day event/tournament without feeding children. No big charities are feeding children in schools in this area, so all children are hungry and many are malnourished. It would not be fair if we expected them to walk to wherever the event was taking place and play sport without having any food or energy. Feeding these hungry children at the event also makes it an extra special day for them as they will enjoy a meal that they wouldn't otherwise have had. There is a food crisis and cost of living keeps rising in Malawi. These children, all living in extreme poverty need our help.
Providing sporting activities, and matching preloved kit, is good for their health, their sense of belonging and learning new skills alongside their teammates. They can dream about being famous. They can enjoy their time playing sport just like other children all over the world. They can forget about their trauma and problems for a while.
We take a holistic approach to supporting the community we have partnered with. Through feeding, education and setting up sustainable projects, hundreds of children are benefitting each year and all will have the opportunity for a brighter future. Will you help us please?
