FoodCycle Lewisham tackles food waste, hunger and loneliness. Our project founded and managed by local charity Lewisham Local, has been serving meals in Catford since 2016.
FoodCycle Lewisham is a community project that brings people together over free, nutritious vegetarian meals made from surplus food. By reducing waste and creating a welcoming space for connection, we help tackle loneliness and build a stronger community. We serve heart-friendly food, cooked with care and shared with compassion.
In our annual guest survey:
61% of our guests told us they sometimes skip meals.
36% say they struggle to pay bills.
60% of our guests say they feel less lonely since coming to FoodCycle.
84% of guests feel that eating with others improves mental health and wellbeing.
In 2025, across three meals, we saved over 11000 kgs of food from going to waste. But we still need funds to continue the work.
With increasing costs for food and energy impacting our project, we would appreciate any donation, however large or small.
Why not come along and eat with us or volunteer with FoodCycle Lewisham to see the impact of your donation?
