Please support Team Avril and Friends as we take part in a 24-hour challenge at Jubilee Pool in Knowle on 10th and 11th October - bringing swimmers, runners and cyclists together in a head-to-head race to cover as many miles as possible and raise vital funds to keep the pool afloat.

We will aim to complete as many lengths as possible in our chosen hourly slot on 10th/11th October to contribute to the overall aim to cover 258 miles, the distance between Jubilee Pool to Wakefield Exchange via the National Museum of Cardiff, The Exchange in Birmingham, and Derby Cathedral, chasing Luke Jerram’s Helios from the distance from Jubilee Pool to these venues. Helios was on show at Jubilee Pool in January/February this year, the first time it had been installed over water.

Last year Avril managed to do over 150 lengths in two hourly swim slots – one with the team on Saturday evening and then another solo swim between 2-3am! Please donate and cheer us on to do even better this year!

This year funds raised will be going towards the major fundraising project to replace the main roof with scope for solar panels. This is costly and top of the list.  The reception area and changing rooms also need improving plus there are always ongoing jobs and maintenance that need funding, as you’d expect with a 90-year old building.
