While poverty affects people across all communities, statistics show poverty disproportionately impacts people from disadvantaged backgrounds, diverse ethnic communities and young people, creating barriers to opportunity and reinforcing cycles of poverty.
The statistics are staggering:
46% of children from diverse ethnic backgrounds live in poverty, compared to 26% of White British children.
People from ethnically diverse backgrounds are nearly twice as likely to face unemployment and more likely to be stuck in insecure, low-paying jobs.
People from diverse ethnic backgrounds are 72% more likely to be affected by benefit sanctions.
People with disabilities and mental health issues are also more likely to fall into poverty, exacerbating their vulnerabilities.
This year, Money A+E staff, alongside supporters, will be climbing the O2 to raise funds and symbolise overcoming the financial and systemic barriers our clients face every day. The goal is to raise £10,000 to continue delivering essential services. The ongoing cost-of-living crisis has only increased the pressure on low-income and ethnically diverse, disadvantaged communities and young people. Winter is especially difficult, as families will need support to afford basic needs like heating, food, and clothing.
For many years, we have primarily operated through funding from trusts and grants, thanks to generous support from funders. However, securing this type of funding has become increasingly difficult.
With your donation, 70% of funds will directly go towards our life-changing services, and 30% will support the essential costs of keeping our doors open to those in need.
By supporting Money A+E, you're not just giving people in poverty financial help—you're giving them the tools to create a better, more secure future.
Together, we can make sure that everyone, no matter their background, has a fair chance to thrive.
Donate today to give someone a fair chance.
